Thanks to eagle-eyed Howie Shaffer at PEN for pointing me to what seems like the most ridiculous news of the week -- a report at eSchoolNews that Microsoft (not to be confused with Gates) has convinced folks in Philly to use this wheel to help make hiring decisions (
School of the Future debuts free HR tool).

What am I missing? The wheel is a visualization for a competency-based approach to hiring and professional development. Why do you think this is ridiculous?
Hmmm. The Competency Wheel seems like a very useful tool for finally documenting the qualities we want in our school leaders and holding them accountable. Why is this ridiculous?
