Privates Vs. Publics: Here We Go Again
Just when the heat wave finally breaks and we all thought we could ease through to the weekend, Paul Peterson et al have re-analyzed the NCES data and found an advantage for private schools (Students do better in private schools, researchers find).
I haven't seen the study itself, yet, and who knows what I could make of it. What I can tell you is that won't settle the public-private debate any more than the first report did, and it's exactly what drives reporters, policymakers and the public crazy about education research.
UPDATE: Here's the study. Have fun!
