EdWeek's Take On National Standards

The latest edition of EdWeek includes a piece that makes it seem, for a moment, like the Council of Chief State School Officers and/or its members are about to come out in favor of national standards (State Ed. Leaders Debate National Standards). But that's not really the case, as the story slowly reveals -- big surprise. The story also leaves out the 1997 debate over national standards during which Republicans scuttled the plan.
