Higher State Dance Standards Needed (National News)

"The Thomas B. Fordham Foundation's latest review of state academic standards finds that most states' modern dance standards are "woefully inadequate," especially in jazz movement and tap." The report cites "innumerable irreparable problems, including lack of memorization of basic dance steps and over-emphasis on "interpretation" and "progressive dance," which allow students to discover dance steps in their own way with little guidance from instructors."
