Internet Plagiarism Reduces Term Paper Assignments

If you can't beat 'em, find some other way to foil them, says this LA Times story about teachers' responses to high-tech cheating (Teachers Adjust Lesson Plans as Web Fuels Plagiarism): "Rather than spend all of their grading time trying to catch cheaters, teachers are changing their lesson plans."

Term papers are absolutely essential in high school and college. I completed advanced doctoral work in Curriculum, Teaching and Educational Policy at Michigan State University and have probably written more than 100 papers in my educational and professional careers; however, I still remember my first high school theme paper on capital punishment. The writing was hard work but it paid off with new knowledge nad skills. Other forms of assessment simply can't accomplish the same objective as writing.
